COMMITTEES
All Conference Council on Youth Ministry members that are currently serving on the Executive Board or a committee are listed below. Our standing committees include Fall Rally, C.Y.A., Confirmands' Rally, Y.S.F. and Communications & Outreach. The Confirmands' Rally Committee is filled with members every other year, depending on which conference is sponsoring the Michigan Confirmands' Rally each year. We also have a resource committee. Committees
Jurisdictional Rally Committee
The Jurisdictional Rally Committee is a special committee formed this year at CYA. The members of this committee will be helping the CCYM in West Michigan Conference plan the jurisdictional youth rally that will be held there in 2008. The President and Vice-President will also be helping West Michigan in this respect.
New Conference Committee
The New Conference is a temporary committee formed this year at CYA. CCYM wants to be prepared should the conference members vote to combine Detroit Conference with West Michigan in the special session next March. The members of this committee will be working directly with West Michigan's CCYM to help plan and create the new Great Lakes CCYM, if it's needed.
Fall Rally Standing Committee
It is the Fall Rally Standing Committee's duty to plan the Fall Rally. Each year an assistant chair is elected to serve as an apprentice to the chairperson. The assistant chair will then become chairperson the following year. This year's chairperson is Megan Smith. Confirmands' Rally Standing Committee
The Confirmands' Rally Standing Committee will be planning Confirmands' Rally, which is to be held at Adrian College in Detroit Conference this year. This event alternates between Detroit and West Michigan, and invites confirmands from both conferences each year.
Communications and Outreach Standing Committee
The Communications and Outreach Committee's goals are 1) to keep all the churches in our conference updated in regard to conference youth events through mailings and, if possible, visits to local youth groups by CCYM members, and 2) to update this website. The committee is also working on a brief newsletter to be emailed to members and possibly churches.
Y.S.F. Standing Committee
The Youth Service Fund Committee's duty is to evaluate applications to the conference's Youth Service Fund and to distribute the funds. YSF grants are for individual youth groups that want to go on mission trips, start programs in their community, etc. The applications are mailed in the Fall and funds are distributed in January. An application form is mailed to each church and is also posted on this website.
C.Y.A. Standing Committee
The Conference Youth Assembly Standing Committee's purpose is to plan our annual leadership camp, CYA. This camp is CCYM's main meeting each year and all elections take place then. It is held at Adrian College each summer. If you are interested in CCYM come to CYA and join a committee!
Resource Committee
The resource committee was created at last year's CYA as a means to improve on the former Mission and Worship advisory committees. Its purpose is to keep track of resource materials that can be used to help plan youth events, as well as helping with the planning itself. The Vice President serves as chairperson of this committee.
